One box of ETE contains six separately packed sterile units. One unit consists of one atraumatic needle, one silicone string and two friction stoppers. It has been shown, that the optimal tensile force most tissue qualities can stand during extension is about 3.5 N. By using a special mixture of plastic and glass in a unique manufacturing process, it has been possible to achieve a delicate design of the friction stopper, which perfectly matches the optimal tension requirements. The slit in the stopper is adjusted in such a way that the tensile force of 3.5 N will not be exceeded during extension.

After application of a unit one of the preconnected friction stoppers shall be disconnected and mounted on the string. It is important to put the friction stoppers in different directions to each other and with the smooth sides resting on the tissue.

NB! Do not twist the silicone string during application. When all the units needed are applied the friction stoppers shall be connected. The connections will act as ball-and-socket joints allowing ETE to follow the contours of the operation site.
